I can’t believe I’m almost 15 weeks (14 weeks and 6 days to be exact). Today I had an OB checkup and what an awesome surprise to find out I would be able to hear my baby’s heartbeat. Josh had to work early this morning, so I took my mom with me. I asked her to film the audio from the baby’s heartbeat for me, however, I wouldn’t allow her to film my belly, hence the video facing the artwork in the room. I’m not ready to share my tummy pics quite yet.
Anywho, it’s a crazy thought to think that my baby will be the only one who knows the sound of my heart from the inside. And today, hearing my baby’s heart was pretty amazing. A strong, healthy, and steady heartbeat.
The doctor also advised that my blood tests came back great, however, one test showed I’m a carrier for cystic fibrosis. I only have one variant, so it’s nothing to be too concerned about right now, but she did advise it’d be a good idea to have Josh tested to find out if he was a carrier. If he is, our child would have an increased probability of having the disease. The doctor also advised we could wait until the baby was born to be tested for the disease but ultimately it’s up to us what steps we want to take.
To my friends and other mothers in my network, I’m curious if you were faced with this decision and what steps you took?
