Dogs Can Eat Healthy Too!

We had a bake sale at work the other day and I decided instead of baking people goods, to bake up some dog treats!

I now have a puppy and I know she would enjoy them as well and there are enough dog lovers in the group that they are sure to be a hit.

I created a Sweet Potato & Applesauce Dog Treat and a Peanut Butter Oat Dog Treat. Hope you(r) dog enjoys!

Sweet Potato & Apple Sauce Dog Treats

Ingredients:

1C of Sweet Potatoes

1/4C unsweetened applesauce

2 1/2C whole wheat flour (I prefer to use Bob’s Red Mill brand)

2 eggs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Mix whole wheat flour, applesauce, and eggs in the large bowl with the sweet potato until a dough forms. Turn dough out on a well-floured surface and roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter or cut dough into strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.
  3. Bake until crisp, 35 to 45 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wax/parchment paper.

Peanut Butter & Oat Dog Treats

Ingredients:

2C Whole Wheat Flour (I prefer to use Bob’s Red Mill brand)

1C Peanut butter

1C Rolled Oats (optional, when you want to add extra texture to your biscuit)

1C of Almond Milk (I love using the brand Silk)

2tblsp baking powder

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients, then add the milk. Peanut butter shall be added last.
  3. Mix these ingredients until you get the consistency of bread dough. Turn dough out on a well-floured surface and roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter or cut dough into strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wax/parchment paper.
